Tim Hinton is an avid reader and enjoys learning and being entertained by a great variety of authors. Here are some of his recommendations:

Fitness and Nutrition
Everything You Need to Know About Fat Loss by Chris Aceto
This is a worthwhile read for anyone who is serious about losing body fat and “cutting up.” The author explains the processes of smart weight loss and gives valuable information on ways to avoid plateaus and keep as much muscle as possible while losing fat.

Strength Training Anatomy by Frederic Delavier
This “illustrated guide to muscles at work” is a great resource for anyone who is training and needs to understand how muscles interact and function while exercising. The illustrations are great and give you an “inside view” of the muscles used in each exercise.

Pumping Iron by Charles Baines and George Butler
The classic book that put bodybuilding on the map and introduced Arnold to America. This is worth getting just for its wonderful photography.

Arnold: The Education of a Body Builder by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Douglas Hall –
An interesting autobiography of Arnold’s childhood and early years in America.

Brother Iron Sister Steel by Dave Draper
This self-described “bodybuilder’s book” is full of great suggestions and interesting tales of bodybuilding’s “golden era.”

Gorilla Suit by Bob Paris
An interesting, though often sad, account of this famous bodybuilder’s journey from troubled teen to bodybuilding icon. Bob describes feeling like he is wearing a “gorilla suit” when he was at his most muscular.

Spirituality and Well-Being
The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
I found this book so enlightening the first time I read it that I immediately started over and read it again! The philosophy of being fully present in this present moment is invaluable. Work your way through the first chapter and then soak up the power of each clearly stated idea.

A Return To Love by Marianne Williamson
A classic best-selling spiritual guide that is full of valuable insights and practical suggestions, based on A Course in Miracles.

Way of the Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman
This book is subtitled “A book that changes lives” and I think it deserves the title. Told as a narrative of a young college student and his mentor, this book is easy to read and full of life-changing revelations.

Treat Yourself to Life by Raymond Charles Barker
This breezy read, my favorite spiritual book, is full of insights and practical information on changing your life by changing the way you think.

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
One of those books that changed my life. The simple and yet profound concepts explained herein are great rules to transform your life in a significant way.

The Power of Decision by Raymond Charles Barker
Another great and interesting read about the importance of not only making smart decisions but simply making ANY decision. As Dr. Barker says, most unhappy people are actually indecisive people. Make that decision and get on with your life!

A Legacy of Truth by J. Kennedy Shultz
This intriguing book about “great minds that made great lives” tells the stories of men who lived well and influenced the world. From Socrates and Voltaire to Emerson and Schweitzer, these stories are fascinating and inspiring for anyone on the path to higher thinking.

Peace is the Way by Deepak Chopra
The perfect read for anyone upset about the direction the world is taking and wanting to do something about it. This made me feel better and gave me ideas for ways I can bring peace to the world.

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
Your wealth is greatly influenced by how you think about yourself, your dreams, and your possibilities. Read this if you want to be wealthy and affluent.

Emerson’s Essays by Ralph Waldo Emerson
Great ideas from a great thinker.

Gratitude, A Way of Life – Louise Hay and friends
Wonderful short essays by a host of new thought writers with great insights. I will often read one short essay each day to remind myself of the essential importance of gratitude in my life.

How to Get Out of Debt, Stay Out of Debt & Live Prosperously by Jerrold Mundis
The classic book of practical advice for dealing with money and living prosperously.

The Soul of Money by Lynne Twist
A very readable book about “transforming your relationship with money and life.”

Spiritual Economics by Dr. Eric Butterworth
Another great resource for spiritual thinking about prosperity.

No Contest: The Case Against Competition by Alfie Kohn
A thoughtful and persuasive book about the inherently destructive qualities of competition and ways to live a more “cooperative” life to greater success.

The Power of Intention by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer
Good advice for a better life.

Other Books I Love
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand
A great thinking man’s novel with challenging and inspiring ideas.

The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand
This book should be required reading for every college student. It literally changed my life as I found myself inspired by its principles and the example of a man who followed his own creative vision in the face of the world’s obstacles and derision.

Devil in the White City by Erik Larson
A fascinating account of the incredible circumstances around the 1983 Chicago World’s Fair and its notorious serial killer. I couldn’t put this book down and found my jaw dropping again and again as the remarkable true story unfolded.

Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides
One of the best-written books I’ve ever read, with a subject that has to be read to be believed.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire – J.K. Rowling
All the Harry Potter books are a joy to read, full of fun and great moral lessons. This is my favorite.

Galileo’s Daughter by Dava Sobel
A great historical recounting of the fascinating life of one of the world’s great thinkers. The book is aptly subtitled “A historical memoir of science, faith, and love.”

Don’t Think of an Elephant! by George Lakoff
A great read of any progressive thinker, helping you to “know your values and frame the debate.”

Reading Lolita in Tehran by Azar Nafisi
A fascinating account of life in Iran by a university professor of American Literature. Her love of books is infectious and she uses great American novels to illustrate the tale of her controversial life amidst the upheaval of political turmoil in Iran.

Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom
A heartfelt tribute to his great teacher that the world has understandably embraced as a classic.

Since The World Began by Jeff Kurtti – The best documentation I know of the first 25 years of the Walt Disney World Resort, complete with great pictures and fascinating accounts of the process of creating the world’s greatest resort. This book is a must-have for anyone interested in Disney or its theme parks.

Anything by Charles Dickens, my favorite author. My favorite of his books is Bleak House, and others I really love are Little Dorrit, David Copperfield, and Barnaby Rudge.

I will continue to read and experience new books and will add them to this list from time to time. Happy reading!
