Hey Tim, Great post! Although this is not always the easiest approach, I do think it is best. Every situation presented to us is an opportunity to learn. When someone holds back because they don't want to hurt us, or feel uncomfortable, or face up to their own challenge, it really robs a person of the opportunity to experience that situation and ultimately grow from it.

It can be very difficult to admit times of hardship, it is very refreshing to know there are people like you who are willing to work on a solution rather than react with anger and attack. Bad things do happen to good people, but one needs to remember that integrity is free...but worth so much!

Tim,

I made the mistake of reading your post while some kids were still in the band room and it was all I could do to keep myself together. Although Melanie and I have only had Romeo for a little over a year, I already feel way too attached to the Bichon. Even now, it's hard to describe how he makes us feel. I never thought I could love a dog so much in such a short amount of time. I know you're grieving terribly, and I hope that you and Lee will always be able to fully embrace and celebrate the unique imprint that only a Bichon can leave on your soul. We are thinking about you.

Tim,

I am SO sorry for your and Lee's loss of Sally. I can't believe I came upon your blog this evening. We lost Lacy, one of two of our pets, also to cancer, on Saturday, January 16, 2010. It had been a rough week as she was struggling more and more for her breath. We had to make the gut-wrenching decision to take her to the vet and have her put to sleep. Needless to say, we had a very emotional weekend and continue to miss our family member. I pray that you and Lee continue your healing as we do the same. God bless you and may you continue to work for your life goals.

This breaks my heart. Our 4 legged kids become such a part of our lives every day. I'm so sorry. I just went with Eric's girlfriend to NC State Vet. Hospital recently to have her baby Bichon, Romeo, operated on for a heart murmur. They put the smallest plug in his heart, and he is doing great. He is 15 months old and would have died in a year if it hadn't been done now. You know how we love our Pomeranians, Marley and Sparky.

So sorry for your loss, Tim. As a fellow dog lover, I can only imagine how hard it is to lose a member of your family like that. I'll be sending you thoughts of peace during this time.
